Willacy County is a great place to take pictures of Wild Turkey and White-tailed Deer. While these animals are commonly seen in many parts of the eastern USA, they still make excellent subjects for photography.

Although I have taken hundreds of shots of these animals, their beauty makes it just about impossible to not photograph them when the opportunity presents itself.

No matter how many times I see a ten point buck, I can’t help but be impressed by the majesty of these animals.

Did you know that Wild Turkeys were pretty rare during the first half of the twentieth century? Fortunately, good wildlife management practices have helped them become a common bird in most parts of their natural range. I see them just about every time I go birding in Willacy county.

If you get tired of taking beautiful shots of Wild Turkey and White-tailed Deer, the nce thing about Willacy is that you might also come across a striking Aplomado Falcon.

Brown Pelicans are also waiting on the coast to be photographed.
