Description
Creatures On The Edge Features the Prize-winning Photographs of the 1966 Valley Land Fund Wildlife Photo Contest. Enter a world of animals which exist on the edge of boundaries: GEOGRAPHIC-the Rio Grande River, the Gulf of Mexico, the southern tip of Texas, and the border between the U.S. and Mexico; TAXONOMIC-with Lesser Sirens, Javelinas, Indigo snakes, Pygmyowls, and Jaguarundi; ECOLOGICAL-the choice of protection, or annihilation by indifference and destruction of habitat. The animals are also on the edge of our understanding. They wait at the door of our human spirits to fill us with wonder and awe. The Valley Land Fund, a group of local volunteers, is dedicated to preserving the remaining three to five percent of the natural habitat of these edge-dwellers here in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas.
